Finding Your Feet Through Pregnancy Loss, Infant Death and Traumatic Childbirth
Join me for a THREE step process to learn the basics and find your footing on how to support families and yourself when something happens.
Here is the thing, there are a few trainings that will teach you the basics on the terminology of Perinatal Loss and Trauma. There are other trainings that will educate you on trauma and grief theory. I want to teach you BOTH of those aspects AND how to apply it for both the families you serves and yourself, if you find yourself navigating secondary traumatic stress or compassion fatigue.
In my THREE session WEBINAR I will walk you through:
#1. Having the confidence to know what families are talking about when something happens and grasping the physical or emotional impact on the family? Here we will talk about the basics of Birth Trauma, Pregnancy Loss, Infant Death - this will be a brief intro to all the things that could go wrong. This course will help you be informed and sound professional (and ideally help you not say something very inconsiderate to our families).
#2. They are crying…. how do I make it better? After this training you will understand the psychology of trauma and grief from the five staple points: shock, denial, anger, sadness, acceptance. You will learn appropriate ways to respond whether in the labor and delivery room or during the debrief after the event. We will touch on what recovery can look like.
#3. Now I am crying…How will I sleep tonight? And other questions helpers with vicarious trauma ask themselves . This session will be about supporting YOU - the birthing professional. You will learn what you need to be your best at work and at home. We will talk through some basic grounding skills and ideas to process with or without support people.
